n. 1 (in sing. or US in pl.) lodgings; a place to live. 2 an adjustment or adaptation to suit a special or different purpose. 3 a convenient arrangement; a settlement or compromise. 4 (in pl.) US a seat in a vehicle etc. Phrases and idioms accommodation address an address used on letters to a person who is unable or unwilling to give a permanent address. accommodation bill a bill to raise money on credit. accommodation ladder a ladder up the side of a ship from a small boat. accommodation road a road for access to a place not on a public road.
